What is PGT-M?

PGT-M is an advanced genetic testing method used during IVF. It screens embryos for specific inherited single-gene disorders before implantation, helping us select only unaffected embryos for transfer. This test is highly recommended for couples with a known family history of genetic conditions or if both partners are carriers of the same disorder.

How Does the PGT-M Process Work?

  • Genetic Counseling: We begin with in-depth counseling to understand your family history and assess the need for PGT-M.

  • IVF Cycle: Eggs are retrieved and fertilized through IVF to create embryos.

  • Embryo Biopsy: A few cells are gently removed from the embryos on Day 5 or 6.

  • Genetic Analysis: The cells are tested in our partner genetic labs to check for the specific disorder.

  • Healthy Embryo Transfer: Only embryos free of the condition are selected for transfer to the uterus.
