What is IUI?

IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) is a fertility procedure where specially washed and concentrated sperm are directly placed into the woman’s uterus around the time of ovulation. This shortens the sperm’s journey, giving it a better chance to meet the egg and achieve fertilization.

Unlike IVF, IUI is less invasive and does not involve egg retrieval or lab-based fertilization.

It closely mimics natural conception — just with improved chances.

1. Initial Assessment

  • Fertility work-up for both partners

  • Hormone testing, ovulation tracking, and semen analysis

2. Ovulation Monitoring & Stimulation

  • Natural cycle or mild ovarian stimulation using medications like Clomiphene or Letrozole

  • Ultrasound scans and blood tests to track follicular development

3. Semen Preparation

  • On the day of IUI, semen is collected and processed in our advanced andrology lab

  • Healthy, motile sperm are separated and concentrated for insemination

4. Insemination Procedure

  • A thin, flexible catheter is used to insert sperm directly into the uterus

  • The procedure is painless, takes just a few minutes, and requires no anesthesia

5. Post-IUI Support & Follow-up

  • You may be advised luteal phase support (hormones) to aid implantation

  • Pregnancy testing is done 14 days after the procedure
